Accepting applications!

The gates are open! We're currently accepting vendor applications for the Eco Chic Craftacular! We are looking for artists and crafters, both locally in Columbus and in surrounding areas, who's work embodies the spirit of a "greener" way of life. Wondering if your work would qualify? You're probably greener than you think. Ever make a bag using vintage fabric? Are you a painter who uses soy based paints or recycled canvas? An artist who creates work from found materials? A jewelry designer who collects vintage beads from thrift store finds? If your work incorporates any earth friendly, recycled or renewable materials, we welcome you to apply!
Visit www.ColumbusCraftacular.com for more info.

Hello, I'd like to take a moment to officially introduce myself to all of you at Etsy Team Columbus.

My name is Jamie Hevener and I have a small home business in Hilliard, Ohio called HevVin Designs. My house is always busy, with a spirited eleven year old daughter and her after school friends, computer guru husband and two big dogs.

I make bags and accessories using my own patterns and collection of vintage fabrics, recycled clothing and some newer fabrics. Sometimes, I will throw in an antique button or two. It all happens down in the basement, which I refer to as my studio.

The name HevVin Designs comes from the combination of my last name, Hevener and vintage. Since my father opened his first antique store in 1976, I have been in love with antique textiles and the fine detailing that went into the weaving of them. I really can't get enough of them. All my life I have enjoyed drawing, painting, and working with textiles.

My favorite quote is by Joseph Campbell which says, "Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls."

Right now, my business is mainly on www.hevvindesigns.etsy.com. I have my creations in a couple of consignment shops: Kloset Kraze and Gourmet Body Treats. Some of my business consists of custom orders. And now, it's time to get ready for shows like Eco Chic Craftacular and Comfest.

Eventually, I would like to own or at least be part owner of a gallery that promotes local artists and artisans. I want to be able to give back to my community and make sure there is a place for future artists and artisans to follow their bliss, too.

Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of Etsy Team Columbus. It has been a pleasure getting to meet everyone, so far.

What is one sure sign of Spring's impending arrival? The wind has lost its edge, the sky becomes bluer and soon showers arrive followed by daffodils and tulips. Along with such changes in the air comes...allergies, pollen and colds--oh MY! Here is a sweet way to keep your pal's spirits up when they are under the weather. Featured seller Littleworksofart has a get well card sure to put a smile on their red and stuffy face. And as a bonus, the original illustration can be propped up on the enclosed art easel made from shimmering cardstock. Be sure to check out the other sweet and sophisticated designs in this delightful etsy shop. Links to this item and her store are provided for you here. Enjoy!

Today's nifty pick comes from Etsy team member Shesu2008. We are slightly obsessed with their newsboy and vintage style caps made from recycled neckties and other materials. (Hello eco-friendly pal!) In fact, it was difficult deciding which ONE to select for our blog. If that wasn't already enough crafty greatness...Shesu's shop also has patchwork scarves (tres chic), bags, vintage items and more. You can check out these lovelies via the following link:
