Local Art Scene Report: A-holes Mini-Golf AND C-Note Art Show

Author Written by Adornments by Karla on Monday, March 22, 2010 Date

This past weekend Etsy Team Columbus participated in a creative tour-de-force known as "A-Holes: Artist Miniature Golf."

Eighteen different art groups from our city were invited to design one hole apiece of an indoor mini-golf course. Doors were thrown open and the public invited in to relax, putt, play, enjoy refreshments and marvel at the creativity and imagination apparent in the whimsical presentations.

Our contribution to the fun was based on the theme of our team's annual handmade event, The Columbus Craftacular. As we encourage Earth-friendly materials for our team's art show, our golf hole mirrored the same eco-chic attitude. Our mascot, Nuts the squirrel, overlooked the green which was created with recylced wood beams, cardboard tubing, newspaper/paper mache, discarded nature displays, yarn and more.

Some of the other sights you'd have spied if you were fortunate enough to have visited A-holes would be: A Price Is Right themed hole, B-movie monsters, Cupcakes, The "Beerymid", Good egg versus Bad egg, dinosaurs, Twin Viper coaster/track, Goose eggs, Cow pies/patties and so many more off-the wall and original ideas.

Our sincere thanks go out to The Couchfire Collective for giving us this opportunity and for pulling off an event none of its attendees will soon forget!

And now for an UPCOMING local art event...the C-Note Art Show. This runs April 9th thru the 11th and is its fourth edition in a 2 year span. This show seeks to promote, display and sell the artwork of local or Central Ohio artists at an affordable price point. No commissions are taken. Hundreds of pieces of artwork will be available from a large and diverse group. We hope you'll visit their website to learn more via the link below.

Even more exciting...our very own teammate, Deb Disalvo, of Artistic Flair, will be participating and presenting her fused glass creations which are typically framed shadow-box style. The amount of work which goes into each piece is truly fascinating! Each individual piece of glass is handcut, layered, fused in a kiln and then annealled (cooled slowly) for durability and strength. She incorporates dichroic glass and even swarovski elements for added pizazz and light/color reflection.

We'd love if you, our readers, would give Deb your vote of encouragement by visiting the C-note website and clicking the "+" sign beneath her artist profile. You may also visit her etsy shop to see more of her fabulous work.
