"Exquisite corpse: a method by which a collection of words or images
is
collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in
sequence,
either by following a rule or by being allowed to see the end of what
the
previous person contributed."

The original Exquisite Corpse game began with a handful of poets in early
20th century France. In Columbus this summer, 50+ artists are uniting to
carry on that same spirit of collaboration, and raise some money in the
process. Organized by local arts advocacy groups ARTillery and the Columbus
Artmobile, the idea is simple. Gather artists from different backgrounds to
collaborate on a variety of pieces, then host a silent auction of the
finished work. Proceeds from the auction will go towards the purchase a vehicle for the Columbus Artmobile, which is in need of a van or bus large
enough to transport volunteers and supplies to local schools. Known as a
“classroom on wheels”, the Artmobile seeks to offer low or no costs arts
classes to local elementary and middle school children currently without art
as part of their curriculum.

ARTillery member and Artmobile founder Heather Wirth says “We started in
April with about 6 artists. Currently we are up to nearly 60 artists and
counting, and have over 30 pieces of art in circulation. Mediums include
paintings, ink drawings, mixed media, jewelry, book arts, clay and pottery, textiles, collage and photography. There are no rules, no restrictions, each artist is free to create whatever he/she desires.”

The project culminates with a gallery show and silent auction at the ARTillery Gallery in late September. Booklets that feature photographs of the the work at each stage, as well as bios of each contributing artists, will accompany each of the finished works.

Artists interested in contributing to a piece are asked to email Heather at
ColumbusArtmob...@gmail.com

SEPTEMBER 4, 2010: 2-5PM
Bacon. It's delicious. And we'd all eat a pile of it if no one was watching. It deserves to be celebrated.
Wild Goose Creative is the official Columbus presenter for the national event BaconCamp! It is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment about bacon. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event. It is community driven and everyone is encouraged to participate by presenting (food, art, demo), judging, or volunteering.
BaconCamp is not a spectator sport.
There are a limited number of tickets available, so buy them early! We do expect to sell out and we want to be able to celebrate bacon with you!
We will be holding a Bacon Cooking contest and a Bacon Art/Craft contest. We will have prizes available from amazing Columbus vendors and restaurants, and illustrious judges from local businesses. BaconCamp is proud to be held at North Market this year!
When: September 4th, 2-5 PM
Where: North Market, 59 Spruce Street, Columbus, OH 43215

Have you ever thought: “Gee wiz, I wish like a whole bunch of artists would get together and make some art. But I don’t want them to all work on it at the same time, I want them to take turns working on it. Oh, and I also don’t want them to plan it out, I just want one person to work on it and then pass it on to someone else and just see what happens!”…
Wait… you’ve never thought that?
Are you thinking about it now?
Sounds pretty neat, doesn’t it!? Well you’re in luck, because ARTillery Ohio and the Columbus Artmobile are teaming up and gathering local Columbus artists together to participate in our first Exquisite Corpse Event! On Saturday, September 25th all of the exquisite corpse pieces will be displayed at the ARTillery Gallery in the South Campus Gateway. Over 50 local artists from groups like the Couchfire Collective, CAW, Abx, Etsy Team Columbus, MAW, and ARTillery Ohio signed up to participate!
Location: 1570 N. High St. Columbus Time: 5 to 10pm

The official date has been announced for the 6th annual Craftin Outlaws event. It will occur on October 16, 2010 from 10am to 5pm at our new venue in the South Campus Gateway complex.
