Photos for Etsy: Getting Started

Author Written by Adornments by Karla on Thursday, September 30, 2010 Date

When I recently decided to open a shop on Etsy, I realized that nice photos of my work would not appear there by magic. I would have to learn to do it.
After some reading and research, I pieced together a workflow that works for me. For some topics, there are ample instructions available. I’ve included some of my favorite resources in the Helpful Resources section below; these cover use of scanners, optimizing camera settings and background, and light boxes.
A couple of areas weren’t covered in quite the way I needed: organization and (very) quick photo editing. I pieced these together through experimentation and jotted down some notes to share, hoping to save someone else the same difficulty.

Etsy Team Columbus has more than sixty amazingly artistic members.

Everyone on the team is super talented, but here are sixteen items that I thought represented the highest level of quality in craftsmanship, creativity and design.  Each of these members will receive an 'Endorsed by Etsy Team Columbus' button that they can post on their blog, Facebook and Etsy store listings.

This set is also posted as an Etsy Treasury.
