On Thursday December 9th join a group of Etsy Team Columbus artisans at the
Wild Goose Creative at 6pm for our Trunk show that will include beautiful hand crafted gifts for the holidays! This will also be the opening night for our group artshow that will remain up from December 8th - January 6th.

ETC Helped Make Strides Against Breast Cancer in 2010

Etsy Team Columbus for a second year in a row helped Make Strides Against Breast Cancer. Our team reached beyond the set goal twice!!!! Our final amount raised is $670.00!!! Every $5 raised helps us get closer to finding a cure for Breast Cancer!

Since 1993, nearly 6 million walkers across the country have raised more than $400 million through Making Strides events to help fight breast cancer. Last year alone, dedicated supporters like you raised $60 million nationwide to help the American Cancer Society save lives and create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays - where this disease never steals another year from anyone’s life. http://tinyurl.com/39dzwtt

Etsy Team Columbus, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Team Update 10/26/10

Did you know Etsy Team Columbus has 65 members at present? Our group has been in existence since January 2008. We all reside in Columbus or the surrounding area, and each of us has an online shop through Etsy.com where we sell our artistic creations.

Over the past year it is estimated our teammates have participated in at least 18 established art events and a dozen or more volunteer or charitable endeavors. Earlier this Spring we were awarded a team grant for promotion of our 2nd annual community art event, The Eco Chic Craftacular. Preceding this event we received mention in two local publications. In addition, we are proud to report FIVE of our members were recently nominated for Governor's Awards in the Arts.

Our members are known to enjoy collaborating, brainstorming and socializing together and with our peers or other folks in the local art scene. We ask our community to support us and we, in turn try to do the same by patronizing local businesses, other artists and donating our time/talents generously to support worthy causes. Recent examples include the Making Strides against Breast Cancer walk, A fundraiser for a local woman with lung cancer, prize donations for the Plinko game at Craftin Outlaws (benefitting Rwanda Knits), The Columbus Artmobile, The Oakstone Academy, Indianola Middle School, Local matters, The Whetstone Community Center, The Ohio Art League, Children's Hunger Alliance, Charity Newsies and Columbus Children's Theater.

Fundraiser Success!

The fundraiser held on Saturday, October 16th for Sheila Salyers, was a huge success, partly thanks to the wonderful donations received by ETC members! Thank you to eveyone who participtated and was so generous to donate to this great cause, about $3000 was raised! Although Shirley herself was too ill to make the event, her friends and family were very grateful for the turnout.

ETC members who contributed were: Andrea Baker, Kerri Mackey, Jamie HevViner, Kristin Ellis, Karla Ross, Kathryn Gorney, Amy Ressa, Lola Lambert, and an ETC friend, Jayne Barnes. Enjoy a few photos of the event!

We are happy to announce that ETC has moved to an open and all-inclusive form of membership. Sellers in the Central Ohio area may join with a simple request emailed to manzanillaross@yahoo.com Our only requirement is that you remit a $10 annual fee at time of inception and each June thereafter. We hope this change will allow our wonderful creative community to feel more cohesive and welcoming. Once you've signed on, it is entirely up to YOU how involved (or not) you choose to be. We look forward to getting to know you and participating in various projects and friendship-building activities, yet we also acknowledge each of us has other demands and responsibilities outside of the "fun" we enjoy creating together (including growing those etsy shops). The benefits of membership are many, especially trading tips about running our businesses, cross-promoting one another, gaining feedback from creative peers, sharing information on local art/craft shows, planning collaborative projects, receiving special discounts and invitations designed with our group in mind and so much more!

ETC has now been around for 4 years. In that time we have been awarded 4 seperate grants from ETSY.com. Our members have exhibited, sold or participated in a wide variety of local events such as Agora, Comfest, The Eco Chic Craftacular, Craftin Outlaws, Independents Day, Tiny Canary, Urban Scrawl, Hit & Run Happy Hour, and too many others to name.

It is our pleasure to say we have worked with many local indie creative groups, galleries, studios, businesses and charities/causes. We try to foster a supportive, informative and friendly atmosphere. Our goal is to continue to stretch our creative wings, to respect ourselves more highly as artists, to support our peers, and to find ways to become more eco-friendly in the process.

MEETINGS

ETC's meetings are usually open only to existing members. Meeting info is announced in our Private Member Facebook group.

We do, however, open our studio to potentially interested members for occasional Monday eve craft nights. These are held in our studio home at 400 West Rich Street in Columbus Ohio. If you are interested in attending one of these gatherings, please contact us for further details at manzanillaross@yahoo.com
